Autumn is in full swing!

Although the weather tells a different story, in Nursery we are finding all kinds of things that are changing at this time of year! The children are noticing that leaves are changing color from green to yellow, brown and orange and are falling from the trees.

Language Arts

The children in Nursery have become 'Wonderful Weather Observers!' We are learning weather words such as:
sunny, rainy, stormy, windy, cloudy
Also a few children have noticed that its getting cooler outside and that we are now wearing jackets and sweaters to school.
By playing games, we extend our vocabulary and HAVE FUN!

We have been working together creating our deep dark forest painting and making the roots for our big tree!

Math

We have a wonderful collection of autumn materials to look at and sort.
Math can be introduced through guided activities, like working at a table
sorting nuts, acorns, pinecones.  The children find their own way to sort the materials.  It may not be the same way as a classmate is sorting.  They also count how many, and in some cases, count way beyond 10.

Can you build this tower as high as the trees in Villa Pamphili?

 Our trip to Villa Pamphili:

We went on our field trip and had a lovely morning exploring the deep dark forest, playing in the playground and of course eating lunch! The children were able to see how many things are changing at this time of year. We collected different leaves, acorns and pinecones to use back in class.

OFF WE GO!

We found out about shapes in this way. What shapes did the children want for the Jack 0'lantern's eyes and nose (circle, triangle, squares)
