Happy New Year!

After our restful Holiday Break, we have been busy getting back into school routines, seeing our friends and thinking about all the things we ' Celebrate'!

Our first day back at school brought a wonderful surprise:
While we were in Art the Befana passed by our classroom and left us each a stocking filled with treats!
She left snowy foot prints all over the classroom, that led to our stockings!

What is inside?

Language Arts:

Thank you for taking the time to created the lovely ' Celebration Books' with your children! They are beautiful and the children are filled with pride when sharing their special celebrations with their friends! If you haven't had a chance to finish yours, not to worry, there is time!

We've realized that we can also celebrate things that aren't a holiday or festival! Some of our friends don't use their pacifiers anymore, that is definately something to CELEBRATE!

Math
In Math we are continuing to play with numbers, shapes, colors and patterns. Using the birthday cakes, we are representing numerals with the same number of candles on the cakes!
We can make numbers using blocks and counting rods! Can you guess the number I made??

Dressing up is part of many celebrations; certain festivals have particular clothing and/or props. We are getting ready for Carnivale in Nursery! When you come to pick up your child in the afternoon, you may find a princess, a cowboy or a solider in his or her place!
Through role play and dressing up, the children are learning to share, to communicate with eachother and use their big imaginations to create wonderful stories!
