In Nursery we did bowling again which the children love! It's a great way to work on their hand-eye coordination and working together in a team!
This month in PE we worked and had fun with all the sports day activities.
We finished the year with an amazing day!
We wish you a happy and restful summer break and don’t forget to keep active!See you in September!May 13th, 2016

Nursery has been having lots of fun playing different games to improve coordination and balance: we've been working with tennis rackets and soft balls , bouncing and catching, basketball learning to bounce and even shoot some goals, passing balls to each other and learning the rules of handball.

So many activities in PE improve our hand-eye coordination so that has been an ongoing theme over the last few weeks. We worked a lot with balls; throwing, catching and bouncing. Also with small tennis rackets and soft balls and with scoops to catch.
We had a lot of fun with a bowling competition to see which team could knock over the most pins.

PE and music teachers have joined together this week to do some wonderful music and movement.
The power of music is amazing!
The children were excited and animated the minute the music started. We did some free "improvisation" as the children moved to different kinds of music.
Later we did some simple folk dancing routines and ended the lesson with some wonderful relaxing music to slow down!

In the last two weeks we’ve been working on throwing and catching balls.
We started by throwing a big soft ball and then moved down to a tennis ball as the children became more confident.
We had a lot of fun using a plastic baseball bat to hit a ball on a cone!

We continued improving our body control by jumping with two feet in and out of the hoops, along the ladder and over the plastic bars.
The children are great and working so hard!
For some free movement we played with the beach balls.

This week we've be working on basic body control skills with different balancing activities;
Walking down a beam, stepping on the tree blocks in the garden, and lots of other obstacles.
Everyone did a great job.
We practised our running technique at different speeds.
Afterwards we felt our heartbeat and noticed some changes that physical exercise makes on our bodies.

We made some wonderful connections between Art an PE this week.
Ms Maryanne has been looking at lines in Art - wavy lines, straight lines, zig zag lines, dotted lines.
We made an obstacle course in our PE classes where we could find some of these - zigzagging between cones, walking along a wavy skipping rope, jumping into hoops.
The children had fun and many remembered the lines they'd seen in art thanks to Ms Maryanne showing their beautiful art work.
